How We Work

Not a Better Agency. A Different Category Entirely.

Agencies sell campaigns and hours. We contract your P&L metrics. The Cult Engine™ is a single, structured 12‑month KPI‑contracted program where our performance fees depend on moving your CLTV, repeat rate, MER, and inventory turn.

    01 — Qualification

Not Every Brand Qualifies. Here's Who Does.

We're selective because our model is KPI‑contracted and P&L‑tied. If we can't move your numbers, we won't take your money.

Retail/eCommerce Fashion, Beauty, or Lifestyle brand with a minimum of $5M to $25M in annual revenue.

Phygital by design: DTC + marketplaces + retail (own stores, wholesale, or both).

Basic analytics stack in place—eComm platform data, CRM/CDP, media platform data, POS for retail if applicable.

Willingness to grant us access (under NDA) to build clean CLTV, CLV:CAC, MER, and inventory baselines.

CMO committed to retention and CLTV, not just top‑line. CFO open to a KPI‑based partnership.

You have an internal marketing team and/or agencies that can execute with us—not a one‑person marketing department.

    We're not a fit if:

    • You want a one‑off campaign, logo refresh, or 'more assets' without P&L commitments.
    • You're unwilling to share KPI data or collaborate on a KPI contract.
    • You can't commit leadership time (CMO + key stakeholders) for the first 60 days.

    02 — Requirements

    Engagement Requirements

To enroll in the Cult Engine™ program, we require:

    P&L Partnership Alignment

    • Named P&L sponsor (CMO or equivalent) and a finance counterpart (CFO, VP Finance, or FP&A lead).
    • Commitment to monthly Cult Engine sessions and quarterly financial reviews—your fees depend on it.

    Data Access & Quality

    • eCommerce data (orders, customers, products).
    • CRM/Lifecycle data (email/SMS engagement, loyalty if applicable).
    • Media investment and performance data (paid social, search, RMNs, marketplaces).
    • Retail data where relevant (POS, footfall, revenue‑per‑m²).
    • A designated internal data owner or analyst to partner with our Insights team.

    Minimum Initial KPIs

    • At least one year of transaction history.
    • Baseline understanding of repeat rate, CAC by primary channels, AOV, and discounting/markdown patterns.

Internal Team — Your "Cult Squad"

    • Marketing lead
    • eCommerce / Digital lead
    • Retail / Merchandising lead (if you have stores)
    • Data/Analytics contact

    03 — The Program

    The 3‑Phase Cult Engine™ Workflow

    01

    Phase 1 — Research & Analytics

    Month 1

Insight Blueprint → Your CLV Baseline

Goal: Build a shared, quantitative truth about where value is created and lost.

    What We Do

    • Run deep segmentation: who repeats, who ghosts, who becomes a cult fan.
    • Build CLTV, CLV:CAC, MER, ROPO, and inventory turn baselines by cohort and channel.
    • Map CLV leakage by lifecycle stage (onboarding, lapse, winback).
    • Audit your agentic readiness (how AI shopping agents 'see' your offers, feeds, policies).
    • Benchmark your performance against 40% repeat and $2K+ CLV cult‑fan targets.

How We Work With Your Team

    • Weekly working sessions with your marketing + data owners.
    • We interview your CMO, eCommerce lead, and key merch/retail stakeholders.
    • You review and challenge our baselines before anything becomes 'official.'

    Your Responsibilities

    • Provide relevant data access quickly.
    • Commit stakeholders to interviews and workshops.
    • Align internally that our baselines and leakage map are the 'single source of truth.'

    Deliverable

Insight Blueprint — CLTV, CLV:CAC, MER, inventory, and sentiment baselines. CLV leakage map, segment hierarchy, and opportunity sizing.

    02

    Phase 2 — Strategy & Positioning

    Month 2

Strategy Platform → Your 40% Retention Roadmap

Goal: Turn insight into a financially justified growth strategy.

    What We Do

    • Define (or refine) your defensible, phygital‑ready positioning.
    • Architect your brand portfolio for a $50M+ trajectory.
    • Design a 12‑month roadmap to reach 40% retention in priority segments.
    • Build a KPI scorecard for CLTV, MER, and inventory that your CFO can plug into board materials.
    • Align naming, messaging, and CX with agentic commerce (AI‑legible, marketplace‑optimized).

How We Work With Your Team

    • Strategy workshops with marketing leadership and your 'Cult Squad.'
    • Collaborative roadmap sessions to prioritize initiatives by CLV and EBITDA impact.
    • We stress‑test the plan with your finance partner (payback, risk, sequencing).

    Your Responsibilities

    • Make decisions—commit to priorities and trade‑offs.
    • Ensure alignment across marketing, eComm, retail, and finance.
    • Approve the 12‑month roadmap and KPI contract.

    Deliverable

Strategy Platform & Retention Roadmap — Clear positioning, messaging, and architecture. 12‑month roadmap with base/target/stretch scenarios.

    03

    Phase 3 — Creative & Activation

    Months 3–12

    Execution, Testing, and Scaling

Goal: Turn strategy into measurable, repeatable profit.

    What We Do

    • Develop and roll out visual identity systems that scale from TikTok to Times Square.
    • Build and optimize full‑funnel campaigns tied to Cult Engine KPIs.
    • Design and iterate lifecycle flows based on cohort performance.
    • Run structured experimentation across creative, offers, and channels.
    • Continually tune for CLTV gain, MER improvement, and inventory movement.

How We Work With Your Team

    • We act as the operating system and growth architect, not a silo.
    • Your internal designers, media buyers, and CRM team remain central.
    • If you have existing agencies, we coordinate roles to avoid overlap.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Assign owners for each initiative in the roadmap.
    • Maintain alignment on test priorities and rollout plans.
    • Hold your own team and partners accountable to the KPI contract.

    Deliverable

Quarterly campaign and lifecycle playbooks. Clear test logs with results and financial impact. Realized vs modeled impact roll‑ups.

    04 — Governance

How We Engage With Your CMO & CFO

    To make the partnership investable:

    KPI Contract (Before Launch)

We jointly define target ranges for CLTV uplift, CLV:CAC, repeat, MER, revenue‑per‑m²/session, and inventory turn.

    Monthly Cult Engine Session

60–90 minutes: review of experiments, segment performance, key insights, and creative implications. CMO‑led.

    Quarterly Financial View

One slide before anything else: 'Cult Engine impact this quarter on revenue, contribution margin, and cash payback.' Realized vs modeled.

    05 — The Experience

What Your Team Will Experience From Day One

    For Your Internal Teams

    • A clear, structured plan instead of scattered requests.
    • Shared dashboards and definitions—everyone speaks the same KPI language.
    • Permission to run smart experiments, with financial guardrails.
    • A partner that understands both runway (brand, creativity) and run rate (cash, margin).

    For You as CMO

You gain a board‑ready narrative for where CLTV, repeat, and enterprise value are going—and why.

    For Your CFO

You gain a partner who speaks in unit economics, payback windows, and risk‑managed upside—not just impressions and engagement.

    Frequently asked questions

How does Principal Media Communications work with brands?
Through the Cult Engine method: Diagnose (P&L truth across MER, CAC payback, repurchase, contribution and inventory), Design (fee-aligned growth plan) and Orchestrate (media, creative, lifecycle and executive reporting under one operating wall).
How long is a PMC engagement?
The core program runs 12 months after a paid diagnostic. PMC's engagements include a 90-day proof window, the option to cancel after month 6, and the paid diagnostic fee credited 100% toward the program.
Who at the brand needs to be involved?
An economic owner — founder, CEO or CFO — alongside the marketing lead, because the contracted KPIs sit on the P&L, not in an ad account.
